The Adria Twin has always been a desirable, class-leading van conversion. Just when everyone thought that there was no way you could improve this gorgeous van, Adria managed to pull not one but two rabbits out of the hat with the launch of the new Twin Supreme.
First of all, there is the clever swinging partition in the washroom that converts the loo compartment to a dedicated shower compartment in seconds. Best of all though is the innovative Sky Roof over the cab, never before seen in a van conversion. This stunning addition allows the light to flood in to the front end of the van, opening up the space to make it feel bright and airy.
How lucky am I to be able to take away a gorgeous Twin Supreme for three months? Together with my trusty dog Dougal, I’ll be spending three months in my favourite country in the world – Scotland.
Zipping up the motorway from Suffolk to Scotland was a breeze, thanks to the optional 150bhp engine and the fact that there are no tiring squeaks or rattles from the cabin. If the sun started beating through the Sky Roof, I could easily reach and lift the blind without taking my eyes or attention off the road.
Our first port of call was Edinburgh Caravan and Motorhome Club Site. Once pitched up, there was no need to worry about driving into the city or parking, as there is a frequent bus service that’s about 10 minutes walk away from the site gates. At 6.4m long, the Twin Supreme 640SLB is easily parked in a supermarket car park as long as it’s not too crowded or busy. We do take up ‘one and a bit’ spaces. However, I’ve been using my pushbike a lot more than I did before, and as a result I feel a good deal better about myself.
The mountain bike lives on the optional Thule bike rack, and as an added bonus this is lockable for greater security. You can accommodate bikes in the spacious garage if you wish, but my garage space is full of kitesurfing gear and other outdoor toys. I would definitely recommend the Thule bike rack option; it’s still easy to open the rear door and access the garage area, even with the bike rack loaded.
Everywhere we go, the burnt orange Twin attracts admiring glances and compliments. ‘How refreshing to see a van that isn’t white or silver!’ most people say. Others put their heads in the door and comment at how solid everything looks and feels. ‘You can see it’s been very well made,’ more than one admirer has commented.
My Twin Supreme also comes with the added option of a 100w solar panel. While I prefer to stay on sites, the fact that I can camp anywhere that it is legal and acceptable means that I can tour without booking, without a fixed schedule, and in complete confidence.
I can’t wait to see where we end up.
